"The White Giraffe" engages me to the point where I began to feel as if I am one of the characters or in the journey/adventure of one of them. The events that take place towards the beginning of this book lead to a young girl (Martine Allen) being sad, lost, and confused, but in return she is placed in a "magical," and amazing adventure. Martine is sent to live with her grandmother on an African wildlife reserve where she is determined to find- The White Giraffe. This giraffe is said to be legend by Martine's grandmother but soon after Martine's arrival she catches a glimpse of this creature through her window. The thing that really got me into this book was the detail and word use the author used to describe the characters, setting, and the thoughts and dialogue of the characters.
