Begins in 1500 in England. The storyteller is Thomas Cromwell who becomes part of the court of Henry VIII through his association with Cardinal Wolsey. The book chronicles the events of Henry's scheming to have his marriage to Catherine of Aragon annulled so he can marry Anne Bolyn. The author involves us in the intrigue, plotting and politics of England when Henry changed history by leaving the Catholic church to begin the Anglican church.
I had trouble initially with the book because it wasn't always clear who was speaking. After a while, though, it didn't matter because I was so caught up in the story of Henry and Anne.

If you like British history, please give this a try. It's a wonderful book!
