Austin Gray decides that if she can become the FFA Sweetheart of Prosper County and ride on the hood of a car in the annual No-Jesus Christmas Parade her life will change for the better and bully Dean Ottmer will leave her alone. To do this she wants a chicken for Christmas, and what she gets is a beautiful Black Rosecomb Bantam she names Charles Dickens.
