You don't see too many Palestinian teachers as protagonists in crime novels, but this works beautifully. You get a sense of the futility people must feel when Hamas decides to fire from their roofs - and knowing the Israelis will knock down the house after - and to go through the interminable security procedures just to get to work. A really interesting milieu to write about crime.
