Brandy Hey, I am wondering why you only gave this book 2 stars. It seems to get really rave reviews from most people but I understand it is about Adam and Eve and their two sons... does it conflict with our beliefs or is it inapproprate (like sacreligous?)

Let me know your thoughts!

Kristine hmmm -- i started reading it 3+ years ago. I guess there are parallels to the adam and eve story, but NO it's not adam and eve!!! I really didn't like it - it just had some issues/themes that seemed sketchy (I think the mom or wife abandoned the family and went to work at a whorehouse or something). I didn't finish it. It takes place in california where the author grew up . . . so - I don't know how to explain it. Interestingly enough I think I would read The Atonement before this one -- as a married woman I can handle/skip over raciness but this was too gritty for me.
