Oy! One of the essays in this wonderful book is called "Am I Jewish Enough?" which Ephron seems to answer in an entertainingly roundabout way, as "no, my religion is the written word." Reading this book is like spending time with a friend with whom you want to be your best, most funny and smart self, but with whom you also want to empathize and eat pastries. Reading it is also a way to make sense of the grief you feel over the death of the author's more famous sister, who you never actually knew but felt you did in some way through her writing. Also a must read if you're a dog lover, for the essay "Dogs". There is a pet psychic involved, for research purposes, naturally.
