Not my favorite book and not my favorite Crighton either, just did not hold my interest as much. Interesting writing this that Crighton is like our modern day Jules Verne, both heavily constructing great adventure stories through scientific views and creating apt stories from just beyond reality. At first the plot thickens and churns and guides the reader along to a plausible sense of what the reader thinks is the logical solution to the presented question; what is a ancient space ship under the ocean going to reveal to humankind? And there are some great devices used by Crighton to get us to see things as the characters begin to fall apart one by one and the outcome of such an event would have on those involved. The book does a fair job at the end giving us a unique ending, but I found myself not as excited to pick it up after awhile and would have stopped reading it if not for a desire that it would prove me wrong in regaining my interest. Not one I would read again.
