I am a pretty quick reader when I want to be. I can easily finish books in a day or so depending on their length, but I am also a picky reader with very specific genres that I enjoy. If I do not like the book, it will take me years to finish. Hence why "Queen of Babble" by Meg Cabot took me a whole month to read. I just could not get into the main character at all. Typically I would just throw this book to the wayside, but for some reason I kept pushing through because I have always enjoyed Cabot's short stories and felt guilty for not enjoying her book.

After a month of sitting on my nightstand I was only halfway through the book, but was determined to finish it this weekend so I could start reading something else. I found that towards the end it picked up quite nicely and I was even prepared to grant this book a comeback...until the last 20 pages. When I remembered why I did not like this book in the first place.

When done correctly, I am fine with swearing and sex in books, but it has to be consistent with the storyline. I felt like Cabot kept throwing in these really promiscuous and vulgar scenes that just seemed so out of sinc with the rest of the book and the characters. They were really jarring and made me not enjoy the book at all.

This is the first of Meg Cabot's books that I have read, are the others any better? I know shes a big time author...but this book was pretty disappointing.
