Fun and fast. A good mix of vampire mythology, murder mystery, and (ahem) "racy" content. Sookie Stackhouse is a well-developed and likeable character, if you can get over her need to describe every outfit she wears in detail. Not sure if that's more for the male readers or female readers out there. The world in which she and the vampires live is also well-formed. Sure, I was pretty sure I knew "whodunnit" before the end, but that's pretty inevitable for a believable story. Just beware not to read this book in front of others if you are prone to blushing easily. This is no chaste Twilight!
