Patterson's books don't pretend to be anything else other than a good ride. The chapters are sometimes just one page long and the sentences are so short that it does not seem right to even call them sentences. Anyway, Roses are Red was the first James Patterson novel (?) I've read. Despite the high-school-type writing, the plot is fast paced and intriguing. Plus, I finished it in no time. Basically, Roses are Red is like the regular run-of-the-mill blockbuster movie: short, sweet, full of action, but quite forgettable.
