The best post-apocalyptic young-adult novel I've read, EVER. It's just so good. Collins takes elements from Greeks myths, from reality television, from the post-apocalyptic tradition--I don't know, is there a post-apocalypse canon yet?--and from the YA canon and makes this breathtaking novel that you absolutely cannot stop reading. I read the beginning of it, fell asleep, had intense nightmares, then finished it, and it far surpassed the nightmares. I cannot wait to finish the trilogy. The pace is quick enough that you don't have to read ahead to get where you're going; the suffocating world of Panem and the 12 districts is surprisingly well drawn in only a few pages; the mix of near-medieval with technological advancement is totally believable.

Whatever, I loved it. Read it, it'll take you maybe two hours, and they will be such terrifying and thrilling hours you will wish they had been three.
