Headlong by Michael Frayn
An excellent art history lesson in the framework of an adventure novel. It's about a professor who hits a midlife crisis and moves out to the country to discover a hidden work of art stuffed in some backwards country hick's basement, and the race to steal it. Also an amusing perspective on relationships, and academia. Really fun to read, kind of like the Da Vinci Code.
