Yay Minx!
Well, this probably ranked the highest on their semi-mature for mid-teens rating - it was about butch surfer girls who lived fairly independently (drinking, smoking, have jerk ex-boyfriends who came to live on their couch and barf all over their house). The main character has her leg bitten off by a shark really early on, so their semi-angsty grumping around and a grumpy/sexy road trip is intertwined with her weird dream-visions of sharks destroying her and her best friend, becoming a shark herself, her jerk boyfriend and the kind of slutty girl they pick up becoming sharks too I think...awesomely surreal, surreally gory. Maybe there's something about the nature of being predatory to other people here that the shark thing was about? But um, mostly it just looked cool. The illustrations were pretty great here in general, though the ladies were generally quite busty and scantily clad in beach bum style they were also all tough and mean and unapproachable about it, which I think was a smart move for readability and unique character definition. Not the strongest story but it looked good and there were sharks!
Different from other, leaning to younger sensitive misunderstood nerdy teens, Minx, but in a good way.
