I want to like this book more than I do. I like the premise, I can't put the book down (even the second time I read it), and I like the characters. Somehow, though, the romance doesn't entirely ring true to me. It's like the romantic movies I don't care for where the characters meet and must deal with some tragedy that threatens to keep them apart but we never get to see them grow together. I know it sounds ridiculous to say that we don't see Claire and Henry's romance develop slowly, but there is just something missing that would make their romance really realistic to me. Maybe I just can't get over the fact that poor Clare never had a chance to really be with anyone else because she met Henry when she was so young. Anyway, an enjoyable book for sure but not the epic romance that I thought it would be.
