I read this because my son wants to keep listening to the series and I wanted to preview it first.

This was not my favorite one in the series. The crisis or story for this book was not developed well. This is very violent and disturbing for a younger reader. (Collins' book can be very graphic). I didn't think it was over the top for my kids, but for sensitive children this would be too much.

I enjoy some of the characters like the rat, but I endure Luxa, the twelve year old queen. The characters seemed to be able to do more at their young ages of 3, 7 and 12 then most adults can do. This lends itself to some things being to far fetched to me.

This series, as a whole, continues to be a worthy read with much to discuss.
