Ahhh...this book was much better! The characters are intriguing and relationship development is well underway.

This book centers on the escape of Thierry from La Fountaine. We are again brought back to Chicago. The plot (almost too neatly) includes many characters from the past. Alex's brother, John, manages to get a job at a runaway shelter. It seems that some of these runaways are involved in some serious crimes that may trace back to the Brethren. We are introduced to a new character, Jema. The suzerain of Chicago, Valentin Jaus, is enamored of her - though she doesn't know. Instead, she ends up falling for Thierry. It is too bad that she is plagued with juvenile diabetes and will most likely be dead before her next birthday.

There was plenty of danger, fights, and steamy scenes. I will most definitely be interested in continuing the series.
