really liked it
Read in January, 2010

It's a book about the "real" Assassins, which is pretty awesome. I didn't think the dialogue was great (all of the Muslim elder-types seemed weirdly informal with each other, etc.) but it had a lot of good ideas/philosophical stuff. A lot of it is probably sort of old hash if you grok Nietzche, the ubermensch, and all of that, but it's done well I think.
The whole book has the "This was not written by an American or Western European vibe", which I like. The plot doesn't go where you expect, etc.
It's a very quick, easy read if you are interested in the Assassins or who all was kicking around Iran at the start of the second millenium.
