Probably one of the best accounts of a Civil War battle ever written. It grabs you from the start and sweeps you along, and he gets the mix right on historical information, biographical material, and descriptions of the action. There may be some other CW accounts that come close, such as LANDSCAPE TURNED RED and some Foote, but even readers who do not normally enjoy accounts of battles will enjoy this one, I think.

Shayan I can't remember the last time that you gave 5 stars to a book! This must be a masterpiece then!
