The first thing I want to get off my chest is "The ending was totally dissapointing!", and at risk of sounding lame I would say "It sucked!" (no pun intended) He (Chis, the main character) didn't have any personal satisfaction at the end of the story, he acomplished nothing and was back where he started, only worse. The protagonist went though so much pain and misery... he deserved a happier ending. Why couldn't Anderson think of one? It can't be that difficult, right? And it felt unfinished, like there would, should be a sequel, but as far as I know there isn't one.

That said, I enjoyed the book quite much. The writing, thought confusing at places, was really good and deep. The story and the characters were well developed, there were even a few funny moments (no, not much, it was more a sad than a happy book). It short I liked everything except the ending. The ending again... I just can't get it out of my head, I mean, who could? Who would want a book to end that way?

Janet That's how I felt too but then I said, WOW, Anderson you have done it again. He has a knack for ending books in a way that will have you thinking of it years later! I know I still do.
