I loved this book. I like the whole idea of a jump the fence Amish who becomes the head of the police department in a small town. Painters Mill is a great setting for a serial killer and the crimes were horrible. But I love the plot the details and all the things that went along with the book. I love how Kate shares her Amish family history with her English history. How she falls for a cop that has issues of his own and shares her dark little secret with him. I'm glad to find out that the killer wasn't Lapp but in the same instant, I can't believe that it was a cop. It was a great cover up for a cop to be the killer because they know how to cover their tracks as well as how to pin it on someone else.

I can't wait for the second book to come out, this was a great read.
