It was ok. Maybe ok-ish is more accurate. It pained me to not love this book, since I really admire the author. It was just too depressing, I think. And the ending? Not what I wanted. Of course, I can't actually think of a way the book could have ended; the characters were doomed from the beginning and should never, ever have been where they were. I guess there wasn't really anything to do but let it all train wreck. That being said, it was compelling, well written, and vivid. Despite the perpetually horrified expression on my face, I couldn't put it down.

I really don't recommend the book unless you're in a crappy mood and would like to stay that way. Or, if other people's misery and awkwardness make you feel better, then step right up.
