Since I am a publisher, I am obsessed with reading books about publishers and their presses. And Random House is the biggie of them all. One thing for sure, publishing is a very romantic business. Whatever you are a small press or a huge one like Random. The old School (and Cerf is a member of that school) were visionaries and had great passion in their work. I hope to be among that little club!

Tosh Hi Marshall, I am not that type of publisher like the others. I am very small press devoted to a certain type of writers at a very particular place (Paris) and time (post-war). I don't do it for the money, I do it so I can change pop culture or make people aware of a certain culture or time that took place...

The Random House of the early 20th Century is not the same place as it is now. Everything 'now' is pretty much horrible. Yet I survive in the cracks of daylight that what is 'horrible.'

Also I love record labels: Stax, Motown, Factory, Rough Trade, etc. I don't see publishing different from owning a record label.
