This is the first book I’ve read about genies and it was everything I expected it to be – it was light and fun and a quick read.

Viola is your normal teenage girl and someone that many people can easily relate to. I know there have been times where I have felt invisible and that nobody cares. I really liked Lawrence, Viola’s ex-boyfriend and best friend. Even though things didn’t work out romantically, he truly cares about her and is always looking out for her.

Usually you only get the perspective of one person but this book had alternating perspectives from both Viola and Jinn. You find out how they feel about each other and Jinn’s struggle over his relationship with Viola.

It was really original and different way of portraying genies. The fact that they live in a separate world and have their own way of doing things was very interesting to read about.
