"Letter to My Daughter" is almost a five-star book. (If the option were available, I would give it a 4 1/2.) This is the first book I've read by Maya Angelou, and I think it was a good one to start off with. It includes a little of everything; poetry and stories, serious stuff and humorous stuff. I liked the variety of it. Angelou delves into getting brutally beaten by one of her "suitors" and thoughtfully pontificates on what it means to be a true American. Although the poetry was really neat, I liked the stories best. The lessons were also valuable. This is a great book for women!
