** spoiler alert ** Well, I know a lot of people that I like a lot have really loved this book, but I can't say that I am joining their ranks. Elizabeth Gilbert is an excellent writer, and she manages to be quite self-deprecating at times....but other times I just wanted to shake her. Marriages break up, relationships end, and often she seemed to feel that these tragedies only ever occurred to her, which was especially disturbing when juxtaposed against the poverty she encountered in both India and Indonesia. Anyway, it wasn't a bad book, it was all just a bit much for me.

Jennifer I did love the book, but I know what you mean about it, too. I was at least glad at times that her methods of self-exploration led her to a place of trying to get over herself. I think I just related to her being that way, a lot, as I'm that way too.

Erin I respectfully disagree, in that first, you are definitely NOT that way. Second......for reasons I will explore during book club! I'm not going to give up all my good talking points! XXXXXXX
