bookshelves: classics
Recommended for: nobody, except students of Russian literature

I read this because it's supposedly a classic and some of my friends at the time were raving about it. Even tho I bought into the religion back then (late 90s), this novel didn't do much for me. I struggled to finish it. There wasn't much interesting character development going on, and the plot just plodded on like a tired old workhorse.
