really liked it

If I hadn't known in advance that this was written by the same author as The Dresden Files, I never would have guessed.

There's a tad of that humor in it, but you have to look deeper to find it.

I liked this book. While it wasn't the most complex fantasy I've read, I found the world and the main character compelling. I did enjoy the fact that while the rest of the world has magic, Tavi is unique in that he's the only one who does not. So instead of him solving all of his problems with magic, he solves them by having to think quickly.

I'm looking forward to continuing the series. I really want to know the back story to Tavi's family that is hinted at continually but never truly revealed or discussed.
