Madeleine - 2 stars
I read the whole thing so I cannot give it one star but so disappointing. It's written in 3 parts: before the virus, aftermath, and some council reading diaries way later. The lead up to the "outbreak" is readable though I kept thinking it was too close to all the other virus apocalypse books I’ve read. I was intrigued with the author’s treatment of the girl Amy but it got to where I felt like I was reading a book by that author that always tosses in the psychic dog. What was his name? Dean Koonz I think . . .
Anyway, a lot of this book felt regurgitated from previous authors that have done it better. The “religion” in the after the virus part was stale. The characters were boring if not annoying. Peter could not be more head up his hind end if he tried. Middle child, “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!” And the ending was just an ending to the book. After 744 pages I would have preferred more but I can see there’s a sequel. Nope.
