Shadowfever (Fever, #5)

15 hours of reading, stopping only to take care of the bare essentials for my 4 kids... Does that make me a bad mom, or Karen an awesome author? Well, for me, it was satisfying to read ShadowFever. My head hurts from all the twists and turns and suspense and wonderment. I finished last night around 11pm, then hit the sack.
Master of Red's Ms. Karen Marie Moning, this one's for you!

I'm completely amazed at the brilliance of foreshadowing and red-herring's that Karen writes.
Without spoiling anything, it was nice to see that my speculations back in 2008 were mostly right and boy I Bet VP is pissed!!
I will probably post some spoilers in a few days. I have to get it out!

“You're Mac," he says. "And I'm Jericho. And nothing else matters. Never will. You exsist in a place that is beyond all rules for me. Do you understand that?"

“I'm not good, Mac. Never have been.'
What-true confession time? my eyes tease. Don't need it.
'I want what I want and I take it.'
Is he warning me? What could he possibly threaten me with now?

“And here we go. She's bristling and my hackles go up. Bloody hell, I feel fangs coming on. Tell you what, Ms. Lane," Barrons said softly, "Anytime you want to have a conversation with me, leave the myriad issues you have with wanting to fuck me every time you look at me outside my cave, come on in, and see what you find. You might like it.”

“Some people wouldn't see a traitor when they looked at me. Some people would see a survivor. Call me anything you like—I sleep fine at night. But you will look at me when you say it. Or I'll get so far in your face you'll be seeing me with your eyes closed. You'll be seeing me in your nightmares. I'll scorch myself on the backs of your eyelids. Get off my back and stay off it. I'm not the woman I used to be. If you want a war with me, you'll get one. Just try me. Give me an excuse to go play in that dark place inside my head.”

“What part of 'directly' didn't you understand?"
"Same part of 'play well with others' you never understand, O cantankerous one," I muttered.
He laughed, surprising me [...] "I'd be a lot less cantankerous if you admitted you wanted to fuck me and we got down to it.”

Woo hoo! Now I just have to figure out when to start re-reading from Book 1, so that I finish right before the release date (but not far enough in advance to be further torture)!
When she begins her next series, it will be hard, but I am going to wait until 3-4 are out before I read them. If each of her books are separated by a yeaer or more and they have these crazy cliff hangers, I just can't do this again. And I only started reading her this January. :)
Regina, I couldn't have said it better myself! Although I feel her Fever series is one of the best series ever written, the cliffhanger crap is a bit much. Way too much in fact. I will wait until every single book of the series comes out before I buy ANY! LOL I can't do it again.
My family had cereal for dinner and the laundry is piling up! My husband doesn't "get" how I can blame a book! Lol!
Erica - if you were able to feret out the twists and turns of this book back in 2008, you are brilliant beyond words!
Tina, there were a few things that I speculated on that were true. I was way wrong when it came to Mac and Christian. I was right about Rowena.
Right about V'lane Boo Ya Viking Princess!
AND right about who the UK was, too a point, but not all the 'parts' LOL
I didn't know what Barrons was, still don't but was convinced who he 'wasn't'
You are so good! I was surprised and I was surprised as to why Barron's wanted the book. I was SHOCKED by V'lane and the Queen and in all honesty, I did not even give one thought about who the UK was.In otherwise, I was completely shocked by the book - oh and Dani....that was huh....
Yea I didn't know about Dani, or why Barrons wanted the book, (That was a huge shocker!!) and the queen was a totally interesting and unexpected twist. Which was awesome.
Dani completely blind-sided me & V'Lane to a point. I always knew there was something he was hiding just never expected it to be THAT! The Queen was also a total shocker and then Barrons...ahhh, as if I needed a reason to love him more!
