The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3)
by Dan Brown
by Dan Brown
I am listening to this audiobook and am traveling by myself. Not the best combo since I keep thinking a huge tatooed freak is going to break my neck or be hiding in the closet of my hotel room, or both. The plot for Dan Brown's third "Langdon thriller" is exactly the same as the Di Vinci Code and Angels and Demons (and no psycho murdered me while reading those...this should help me sleep better at night, but it doesn't). I am annoyed as a reader (listener in this case) by the cliff hanger at the end of ever chapter. And I still have 3 hours left and am on chapter 101!! When the characters in the story are finding things out and the author seeks to add suspense by describing the shocked look and horrible gasps but then waiting 3 chapters to fill the reader in, I feel patronized. But if its not broke, don't fix it. And Dan Brown is anything but broke which means that he will probably write carbon copy 4, 5 and 6 before we know it.

I just finished reading this last night and I'm not sure if I can tell you that it gets better or worse. I was definitely shocked by the conclusion of the drama. The last 30 pages or so are not the most exciting. It's more philosophy; some of which I agree with and some I do not. I didn't love this book but it was interesting for sure.
