The first in a series about an ex-Navy SEAL who takes up marine biology and lives in an old fishing shack on Sanibel Island. I hope the rest of the books in this series hold up to this great beginning. Although there's lots of guy action, which you would expect in a mystery like this, Doc Ford and the other characters were far more developed and interesting than the usual maniquins set up mainly to land punches, steal treasure, and blow stuff up. I would strongly recommend this to our middle-aged male library patrons looking for a good mystery.
