Another Newbery about a boy and his dog. But the boy doesn't have a name and the dog isn't present for most of the book. It's really about a boy growing up and learning to be a man in the face of adversity. This isn't a technical term but I think of this as a "mood book" where there's a lot of emotion and ambiance and almost no plot or character development. Not really my style. It was just okay.
