Rescuing Sprite: A Dog Lover's Story of Joy and Anguish by Mark R. Levin
Wow. I'm not sure Mr. Levin could've picked a better title for this book! It truly is a story of joy and anguish. I don't believe I've ever been on such an emotional rollercoaster while reading a book! Many of us who have dogs consider them a part of the family, and I'm sure we've all thought about the dreaded "end of life" decisions that we may have to make. "Rescuing Sprite" tells the story of Mark Levin's family dog and how his life (and death) taught them more than some people learn in a lifetime. WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IN PUBLIC! I made that mistake and had to choke back the tears as best I could....seriously, there are some VERY sad parts to this story. If you have a dog, you will find yourself imagining him or her going through the described ordeals...tough stuff. All this to say, this is a lovely book that any animal lover (not just dog lover) will enjoy...especially if you're in need of a good cry.
