Soldier's Heart : Being the Story of the Enlistment and Due Service of the Boy Charley Goddard in the First Minnesota Volunteers by Gary Paulsen
This book is incredibly violent. I'm surprised oou teacher let us read it (WLMS students will know what I'm talking about). Unfortunately for the book, it focuses too much on the violence. Maybe if it had a little more character development, or maybe even realistic charachters to begin with. I mean, what 14 year old kid is so eager to fight in a war that he lies to everyone around him and has the worst experience of his life? Yeah, I don't get it. Other than that, it was alright. A very short book (can probably get through it in and hour or two) with some very cool action sequences.
