What a boring book. I think the main problem is that there is no characterization, nothing to make the reader care about anyone in the book. They are figurines in situations rather than personalities; most of them are nothing more than names. There are events and memories which don't have any significance. The book is like being on a long flight and the passenger next to you starts telling you trivial details about their past. After a few minutes, all you really want them to do is shut up. It's just an endless stream of meaningless chatter.
The author wrote this book with financial help from the Arkansas Arts Council - they should ask for their money back.
