it was amazing
bookshelves: adapted-for-film, classics, road-trips, beat-generation
Read from February 08 to March 24, 2013 — I own a copy , read count: 3

Just as good the third time as the first two. Part Four leading into Mexico City was really inspiring to me this time around.

(old review)

One of my favorite books of all time. Kerouac got me into "reading," so to speak. I need to read this again, and soon.

Lately I've been in a Kerouac and Big Sur mood, spurred by Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard's words and melodies, and a brief stint we had in the Monterey/Big Sur area.

Dan Beatty Matt, I have read some reviews and found there are many who just love this book, but also a few who hate it and not because it was written poorly (in their opinion) but in the content and attitude of Kerouac. I think I lived through this time that he writes about and am anxious to read his account. I expect to read about things that were part of that era that seemed at the time like adventure and full life experience, but were absolutely NOT as such. I guess I shouldn't really analyze what I haven't even experienced (his tale of the book), so I will read it and see. It'll be next in line. Love Dad

Matt did you ever read this dad?
