When I was 11 years old, my sixth grade English teacher was giving away books and I picked up this one. Its cover was interesting (not the one pictured). Mr. P-C stopped me and warned me that its subject matter was a bit mature, which of course only intrigued me more. And oh what a story! This might have been my first exposure to satire, and I was hooked immediately. The book blew my mind! I've gone back and read this book many, many times, and it has held up perfectly over the years. An amazing, hilarious, freaky deaky, dystopic book that every eleven-year-old should read.
