it was amazing
bookshelves: classical-literature, favorites

J. D. Salinger was born to write short stories. No one else I've read does it as beautifully or completely. Each story is a self-contained, perfectly lengthed, gorgeously characterized slice of humanity, just waiting to be savored.

My favorite story is "The Laughing Man." It is such a simple story but evokes such a strong response with me each and every time I read it. It is the best short story I have ever read. I also love "A Perfect Day for Bananafish," "Down at the Dinghy," and "For Esme- With Love and Squalor."
