On Tuesday night, the frogs and toads fly around town on their lily pads.

Gorgeously detailed, full-page watercolors show the magical event and the humans who are very perplexed over it the next day. In some images, thick white borders and panels are used to show the passage of time. Text is used only minimally to express setting and the time of night. The surreal elements of the story are completely believable because of the detail and realism in the art.

Though almost entirely textless, this book still manages to convey the delight, fear, and exhilaration of the animals experiencing this strange night. The art, a combination of realism and absurdity, is extremely engaging and thought-provoking. The basic plot can be understood simply through the images, but there is enough detail that a reader could come back and discover more each time through the book.
