When the Devil Dances by John Ringo
It's a game of strategy against impossible odds. I know that is hardly an orginal storyline but it gives an indepth look at war from an inside and outsight perspective. There is the experience of a veteran leader in the trenches but also the insights of a proven general in the field. It engages the reader with high tech weapons cool unpredictable scenarios. I enjoyed the fact that winning has more to due with incorrecting mistakes then just untelligent bravery that includes having the leader of your army run full speed into to a hail of bullets. Even if you don't enjoy war stories it also has good character devolopment and real everday concerns.
