I finally read this because a friend couldn't believe I'd made it to adulthood without doing so. I can't say it changed my life. I'm sorely tempted to give it a literary treatment. I like Charlotte. I'm not too impressed with Wilbur. He's a stupid, selfish pig who does what everyone tells him. I find the crowds particularly gullible. Don't you know you shouldn't believe everything you read?

Perhaps this is why it's a kids book, there's an element of absurdity. But I like how Fern knows what's going on. Of course a loss of innocence follows, a commentary on childhood and life.
