Read in December, 2009

Haven't read Conroy for years. Holding my review until I have read more, but some of his descriptive passages are a joy and must be read twice just to savor.

UPDATE: The above descritive passages ended and now this book is killing me --- I can't seem to care about most of the characters -- so bad that I like the Mom the best. If my reading tonight doesn't make me care I am going to quit. Everything is so predictable and really boring. I hadn't read Conroy in years because the themes seem to be the same year after year. Why didn't he stop this book after the trip to San Franciso (trying not to be a spoiler if someone wants to read)? May a chapter or two to tie up a couple of loose ends, but no more.

Maybe it is because I have a copy of "The girl who played with fire" on my bedside table waiting for me.

Kirsten I read this a few months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the writing but found the plot a bit contriver, especially toward the end.
