I'm so glad that Robin Beerbower recommended this book. I did a little experiment and read it at the same time as My Abandonment by Peter Rock; both books based on the same story of a father and daughter who had lived undetected for four years in a park inside Portland's city limits. Shortridge approached the story from a cop's perspective, letting things unfold a bit more like a mystery.

Robin Well, aren't we supposed to "suggest" books rather than "recommend"?? Just following the Pearl method. ;-) That way if you don't like it you won't think less of me for recommending it. Heh.

Linda But so far your suggestions have been so right on!

Robin Yeah, that's because I'm goooood... ;-)

Linda And I'm halfway through the book and it's also gooooood!

Robin I booktalked both of these today in my presentation and lobbied for the library book group to read both of them over the summer for our Sept discussion.

Linda I think that would be super interesting. We talked about the premises of the books at Let's Talk About Books at our library last week. Really interesting; and fun to have two well written books to compare/savor.
