Black and White is a novel about two childhood friends who are the all stars of their school's basketball team. Underlying messages such that of racism in a community transpire throughout the book. This book although extremely easy to read because of its vocabulary has well thought out powerful messages that even high school students like us can learn from. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone in out class because of the simple fact that it is not challenging to comprehend, perhaps reading a novel with stronger language and the same messages would be better. Overall Black and White provided relaxation and when reading felt very natural. If you are looking for an easy read, yet you want to learn a thing or two about racism in urban communities then this is the book to read.
