Middle school kids love these books, and it's easy to see why. Not only is the main story inventive and fun, but the hilarious asides that lead each chapter give the reader insight into the construction of the book. Thoroughly entertaining, as was the first volume. On to the third!

Quick summary: Alcatraz Smedry is one of a long line of magical Smedrys. His Talent? Breaking things. A search for his parents and grandfather find him flying in a glass dragon and visiting the famous Library of Alexandria while avoiding the world's Librarians, who secretly (and evilly) run the world.
