Lovers of short stories and Australian fiction - read this read this read this. Tim Winton's story shone the most for me. I'm not familiar with many of the other writers but I now want to be familiar with them.
With the exception of 1 or 2 stories, I couldn't fault these stories as 'the best of the best'. There's an intensity to each story. They linger with you. When you surface from a chapter you're left with a tremendous after taste that feels almost like confusion, deja vu, nostalgia... something. Like waking from an afternoon nap only to find the house dark and remnants of a dream at the forefront of your mind.
My summer is now sorted, I look forward to reading each of the editions that lead to this 'best of' book.
