Alicia Not as good as the movie, huh? Maybe if Kate Winslet was on the cover?

It was pretty good, actually. It was written in a somewhat like Damage was. Minimalist. The movie captured the book well, so there was little if anything more in the novel, that was not covered in the film. I read it because I wanted to find out if Hannah was amoral or a bit touched in the head.

And what book wouldnt look better with Kate Winslet on the cover?

Alicia Well...which was she? I thought she just seemed traumatized & broken.

The book is never explicit, but I think it was mostly due to being not all there. The lack of guile and inability to understand stuff. Also the emotional fragility and vulnerability because of the illiteracy. See. Reading keeps you from catching a bad case of the Nazis. LOL
