Recommended for: everyone, there is not one person on this planet who would not benefit
Read in January, 1983, read count: too many to count

E.B. White's writing is uncomplicated, elegant and clear. Some of these essays are dated now but his gift of prose does not just give you the sense of time and place, you as the reader are living it with him. I have borrowed this book from the library several times over the years and I have just stopped to read one or two of the essays while looking for another book but I think it's time for me to own a copy.
This collection of essays made me realize how fortunate it was that he wrote books for children. It's a rare and gifted person that can manage the range and depth that he is able to create in his body of work.
