good reference book....not a very good story book...one: it was too many detailed facts and characters to keep track of for me...two: i've heard there are issues about the accuracy of parts of this book...
either way...its really good in some parts...i love the stories of the Prophet's household...the war chapters r slow in the middle..and again tooo many details...and i dont like his writing style...
i wish there was a better seerah out there...i've heard the sealed nectar is even slower and drier...

Nophoto-m-25x33 Sara,
Really good book. Read through the middle and you will enjoy the rest of the book!

Ar raheeq ur makhtum is def much drier. I think i've read past the 2nd aqabah, and I got tired of that, so I started Lings, and Lings ain't impress me much either with the writing style... I'd think that if people are going to write about the Prophet saw, they'd write more eloquently...

I think Nasr has a book on him. and there's one by shimmel. I hear they're both good, wanna check em out some day... but I don't think they're bios...moreso thematic.. maybe we can both read one together... lemme know if you'd be up for it this summer...

Nophoto-f-25x33 you all should check out Adil Salahi's Muhammad Man and Prophet. A lot more detailed than Martin Lings'; however, the story-telling ability of the author totally gets you hooked to it, and NOT dry at all!
