One of the best books I have read in a long time. Not just a blood and guts memoir, Fick writes of what it takes to be a leader, how to improve as a leader, to lead a disciplined life in and out of combat. He's a superb writer with excellent style. This is a book every newly commissioned infantry officer should be made to read -- as well as every member of Congress who thinks they know what is really going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.
